In August 2015 Amanda was out training for a triathlon when her bike brakes failed and she hit a post at 50 miles per hour. She broke 11 bones, punctured a lung and became paralysed from the waist down. Since her accident she has faced many challenges but has always tried to remain positive for the sake of her family.

““I have always had a fear of flying. It is the feeling of being out of control and not understanding what keeps an aircraft up in the sky. Learning to fly will help me build my confidence and show my children what I can do despite being in a wheelchair.

I also hope that someone in a similar situation to me might draw strength from my flying experience and help them find hope in what might seem quite a desperate. It will show other people that there are no limits to what you can achieve”
