From birth, Anthony was diagnosed with Phocomelia, a condition that involves malformations of the arms and legs. This resulted in a double above knee amputation, no elbow in his left arm and missing two fingers on his left hand. The amputations affected Anthony’s mobility and he cannot stand for long periods. However, his upper body strength allows him to pull himself upstairs. He represented Great Britain at swimming in 3 Paralympic Games but had to retire due to injury.
